Specifications

  • Machine tap for cutting internal metric threads
  • Standard: DIN 371, reinforced shank type
  • Form B: 3.5–5 thread chamfer lead
  • Spiral point geometry pushes chips forward
  • Designed for through holes
  • Thread tolerance class: ISO2 (6H)
  • Substrate: HSSE-PM powder metallurgy high speed steel
  • Fine, uniform grain structure; higher toughness at equal hardness
  • Surface: TiN coating, approx. 2,600 HV
  • Green ring marking identifies material group
  • Suited to non-alloy steel up to approx. 1,000 N/mm²
  • Also suited to ductile cast iron and thermoplastics
  • Shank diameter equal to or above thread diameter
  • Single-pass threading in one operation
  • Operation on drilling machines, tapping machines, machining centres
  • Use with axial-compensating tapping chuck when feed not synchronised
  • Cutting oil matched to workpiece material recommended
  • Requires pre-drilled hole per tapping drill table
  • Chamfer hole mouth before tapping
  • Applications: maintenance, mechanical manufacturing, mould and jig making
  • Suitable for small batch production
