VÖLKEL Thread Repair Kits, 18 x 1,5 - 1,5D

Features and applications

This product is a thread repair kit for restoring a damaged internal thread with wire thread inserts for controlled thread repair in M 18 x 1.5. The kit logic matters because drilling or preparation, STI tapping, insert installation, and final checking must fit the same repair size.

Metric thread selection is based on nominal diameter and pitch, so both values must match the screw connection or drawing. The kit should be selected by the component thread, available wall thickness, and the required installation workflow. Confirm the mating part, prepared hole, driving method, and cleanliness before you load the tool or insert.

Applications

• rebuilding stripped or worn M 18 x 1.5 threads using an insert based repair sequence
• service cases where replacing the complete component is less practical than repairing the thread
• repeatable repair preparation using coordinated drilling, STI tapping, inserting, and checking steps
• tool room or field service work where all required kit parts must stay matched to the thread size

Benefits

• kit structure keeps the repair workflow connected to M 18 x 1.5
• coordinated preparation, STI tapping, insertion, and checking steps reduce the risk of mixing tools from different sizes
• insert repair can retain the original screw size when the component condition allows controlled preparation

Application limits

• A repair kit only works when the damaged component can be prepared correctly; replace the component or use a different repair method if alignment or remaining wall strength is not sufficient.

Step by step

1. Compare M 18 x 1.5 with the component drawing or the original fastener before selecting the kit.
2. Remove contamination and damaged thread material from the repair area.
3. Use the preparation tool from the kit sequence while keeping the tool aligned with the original axis.
4. Tap the receiving thread with the matching STI tap from the repair system.
5. Clean the prepared thread before the insert touches the component.
6. Drive the insert into the thread with the installation tool specified for the kit.
7. Finish the installation step by removing the tang if required.
8. Verify smooth screw engagement and document the repair where your process requires traceability.
