1. Determine thread & choose the right tool:
   Check thread size and pitch (e.g., M8×1 or M8×0.75) and select the suitable HexTap (ren trong) or matching die nut (ren ngoài). Ensure the tool and thread match exactly.
2. Prepare the work area:
   Remove dirt, rust, chips, or paint residues from the thread. For lỗ bít: keep the bore as free from chips as possible. A brief visual check helps assess if the thread is severely deformed.
3. Apply cutting oil:
   Apply cutting oil to the tool and thread (especially for thép). This reduces friction, improves surface quality, and protects the cutting edges.
4. Align correctly (important):
   Use the pilot tip to align the tool and keep it as perpendicular as possible to the workpiece surface. A clean, straight start helps avoid cross-threading.
5. Cut / rethread with even pressure:
   Turn evenly with a 1/4" ratchet or hex key. Work in a controlled manner – avoid tilting and do not force it. For ren ngoài, guide the die nut with an open-end wrench on the external hex.
6. Special note for lỗ bít:
   Work in short stages and remove chips from the hole regularly. Avoid cutting to the bottom. If resistance increases significantly: reverse slightly, clean, re-oil, and continue carefully.
7. Finish & check fit:
   Unscrew the tool completely, clean the thread, and test with a suitable screw or nut. The thread should run smoothly without excessive resistance.
