The STI HexTap V-COIL rapid machine tap is the ideal tool when you need to cut an STI thread for thread inserts according to ISO 2 (6H). Thanks to the 1/4'' hex drive, you can use it by hand or with a cordless drill.
What is an STI thread?
A special pre-thread for thread inserts used to repair or reinforce damaged internal threads permanently.
What does Form D mean?
A cutting geometry offering good chip evacuation, suitable for both through and blind holes.
How is the tap driven?
Via a 1/4'' hex drive – perfect for hand tools or cordless screwdrivers.
Which materials is it suitable for?
For free-cutting materials up to 900 N/mm², unalloyed and low-alloy steels.
What tolerances apply?
The tap has ISO 1 (4H), the finished STI thread corresponds to ISO 2 (6H) once the insert is installed.
