Application:

• For removing the driving tang of V-COIL thread inserts after their installation.
• Suitable for thread inserts up to and including M12. For thread inserts from M13 onwards, we recommend removing the driving tang with needle-nose pliers.

Using the V-COIL Tang Break Tool is incredibly simple:

1. Install Insert: Ensure that the V-COIL thread insert is fully and correctly screwed into the prepared thread.
2. Position Tang Break Tool: Carefully insert the V-COIL Tang Break Tool through the newly installed thread insert until it rests on the driving tang.
3. Break Tang: Apply a short, firm pressure to the tang break tool. The driving tang will cleanly break off at its pre-defined breaking point.
4. Remove Residue (if necessary): Should small remnants of the tang remain in the thread, they can be easily removed to ensure the thread's clear passage.

After this step, the thread is fully prepared and ready for use.

2. Why must the driving tang be removed?
The driving tang is used to screw the thread insert into the receiving thread during installation. After installation, it serves no further purpose and would block the thread's passage, which is why it must be removed.

3. Can I remove the tang with pliers?
For thread inserts up to M12, using the tang break tool is the cleanest and safest method, as it separates the tang at the intended breaking point. From M13 onwards, the tangs are more robust and can generally be removed with needle-nose pliers.

4. What if the tang doesn't break cleanly?
Typically, the tang breaks cleanly at its pre-determined breaking point. If this doesn't happen, check if the thread insert is fully screwed in and if the tang break tool is correctly positioned. A light but firm pressure is usually sufficient.
