1. Preparation: Machine workpiece to core diameter, add a 30–45° chamfer, and clamp securely.
2. Alignment: Place the die (o/d 1.5/16) flat and centered in the die holder, cutting side facing forward.
3. Cutting: Apply cutting oil; rotate approximately 1 turn forward and 1/4 turn backward to break the chip, maintaining a perpendicular position.
4. Finishing: Cut to the desired thread length, reverse the die, and remove chips.
5. Check: Verify with a matching UNF nut or gauge; clean the thread surface.
